<p>Borrowing from traditional texts and conventional wisdom, “Living Right” is a forum for newcomers to Islam, young people recommitting themselves to the Deen, or anyone seeking practical ways to progress spiritually.</p>

<p>Relax, breathe and focus on the present. Employing techniques of mindfulness meditation, this class will nurture increased awareness and provide participants with tools to manage the stress of daily life.</p>

<p>A follow-up to Dr. Abd-Allah&#8217;s earlier paper Islam and the Cultural Imperative, which addressed the necessity of establishing an authentic indigenous Muslim cultural presence in America. Living Islam with Purpose complements that paper by offering an operational framework for accomplishing the task. This framework consists of &#8220;five operational principles,&#8221; which will be discussed at length and illustrated with examples.</p>

<p>Parvez Ahmed is an attorney specializing in business litigation and presently serves as a consultant and subject matter expert in electronic discovery. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of San Francisco where he teaches a course on Islamic Jurisprudence.</p>
<p>In the past, he served as Senior Editor of the Journal of Islamic Law &amp; Culture at the University of Arkansas. He has taught undergraduate courses related to Islam and Islamic Civilizations at the University of Arkansas and Wayne State University.</p>
<p>Parvez studied Arabic and Islamic Jurisprudence extensively with teachers in Michigan and Cairo. Some of his teachers included Shaykh Ali Suleiman Ali, Dr. Muneer Fareed, and Dr. Sherman Abdal Hakim Jackson. Presently, he studies theology and Hanafi jurisprudence with Shaykh Mohammad Amin Kholwadia of the Darl ul Qasim institute in Chicago.</p>
<p>Parvez has been involved with the Muslim community for over 20 years serving on various boards and has lectured on topics related to Islam at various college campuses, forums, and religious institutions.</p>
